Gear! Part 2 – good to have in the bag

I wrote more glasses in detail with my last posting, and now I want talk about some of the accessories that are so wonderful then I do the wedding photography. Here's a quick list and depth:

Memory cards tons of them: My biggest 8GB are, I recommend spreading your images across multiple cards, because if your card to 16 GB or 32 GB bites the dust with all your images, you'll cry. I do not want. The Thinktank Pixel Pocket Rocket picture is the best way I found to achieve them. More the name is funny.

Tape: Imagine no tape residue, at a price much higher. This band works very well on just about anything, and I used it for just about everything. With a roll of duct tape on hand is a kind of keep your faithful knife in your pocket, you never know when you need it, but when you do that makes you happy.

Gitzo tripod with a head Gear: You need a tripod Nice, and it is carbon fiber, so it's easy on my back. The head gear is too large, you can make adjustments very refined, which is not critical for weddings, but for almost all of my other work.

Canon Cable Release: Get one of these! They are great for reducing camera shake when you have your camera on a tripod, I use that in most of my portraits and certainly for the family formals.

Kenko Extension Tubes: Do not have a macro lens? Buy this at affordable prices, and you can use any of your lenses so that close up shot wonderful wedding rings. I do a lot of photography with food these as well.

Canon TTL Flash Cord: always good to have if you have the IR emitter you're even better. I'll probably bull by the horns and take place quickly. Or maybe you want to make me a birthday gift?

PocketWizards: One of my best investments. These little guys are reliable, last forever and are a must-have if you use strobe lighting. We use them to trigger without Wireless flash for portraits of family, and also shed light on-a-stick with them during the reception. I have not tried new similar products on the market, PocketWizard but I know that has worked well for me.

Canon 580 EX, two. They are pack animals too. I've had them for years and they do not quit. For weddings shooting, it is imperative that you have nice hot which can pivot their heads. Any flash that is set to take full law will be cheap, but you can not flatter light. Do not use direct flash if you can help!

Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer: I used one of Lightspheres for years, and the loss of several of them. They give you soft light, but does not give you much power your flash. When shooting a wedding, speed and fast recycling time is extremely important, and in my opinion, the Lumiquest is here for. I really like light from it is the next best thing to hang a light box. Great price point too.

XS Chimera or Photoflex softbox flash: We use our light on a stick, because I do not always have these shadows. These help to soften a little.

Finally, the Manfrotto monopod. These are great because you can use them to remain stable during the filming of the wedding ceremony, while remaining mobile, then use them to light during the reception. In addition, if you're in a bad part of town they look ultra menacing, I would not be surprised to see a bunch of photographers bike around town for those few times.
